On my lunch break, I took a drive around St. Bernard Parish, which is just east of Orleans Parish. It is a little more rural and there are a lot of pecan groves, tractors and cows. This tractor and wooden gate just seemed ready to be photographed. I took this from inside my car, parked on the side of the road with my hazards on.

Another day full of flowers, but this gate caught my eye. Its rusty and green and there is a touch of yellow...and the background of yellow flowers and green grass just seemed to fit in right behind it. Natural vs unnatural...but it works.

This was a hard day to decide on a photo. I took a 5 hour hike in the Sutter Buttes. The spring colors were fantastic! The grasses were green, the oaks had new buds and there were lichens and mosses and flowers everywhere! And in all different colors! I don't know why but this dry flower caught my eye. I went to City Park again. I have been trying to take some walks outside, now that it is light and the weather is still good (in New Orleans this means "not sweltering hot with 98% humidity). This is one of the first buds of spring.

I took a walk in City Park today. They have done SO MUCH renovating/repairing of this park since the first time I was here. I used to run here and there were barely paths, the grass was overgrown or dead and you didn't feel completely safe. It looks 100 % better today! Mr Lovely helped me pick this. He liked this one because it has ducks. And just like me, he likes red and reflections!

I liked this because of the similar colors with different textures. Shoes on a rug on the floor. Classic...and, notice they are sandals! It is 70 degrees in Sacramento. Ahhhhh....

First day of spring!!! Happy Spring everyone! I went to Carmichael, CA and helped my friend and her mom landscape their garden. My butt and thighs are sore! Gardening is good exercise! FYI These little plants are so cute but a pain in the a%& to plant. I think they are called Red Hot Pokers.

This is not a very inspiring shot -- I took it (obviously) while in the car. What made me laugh was the sign on the back of the truck: Do Not Push On Tail Gate. Durr. I can imagine my cousin Karl saying "Durrrrr" kind of like Homer Simpson says, "DoH!" Look, I know Durr is a company, but it still made me giggle.

I drive past this place every day and finally today, now that we changed our clocks, the light was perfect. I had a hard time deciding which picture to put up for today, because a really cool part of this building are the windows. You can see my number two pic here.

This is the turtle my Aunt gave me...Its from Hawaii and it's surprisingly light., like those balsa-wood planes we used to use in Elementary School. I don't know what kind of wood it is. But it's lucky! I keep it in my purse to give me luck throughout the day.

We went skiing at Alpine Meadows in Lake Tahoe. It was an awesome day! Just warm enough to not freeze to death and just cool enough to keep the snow perfectly crisp. Beautiful!

I took a walk on the beach and saw this weird stick and couldn't resist a photo (okay, okay, I pretty much take pictures of everything, weird or not). What a nice day it was! I miss California! It's just not the same in Louisiana. Just. Not. The. Same.

Okay so I took about 600 pictures on this day. This one is not my most scenic or the best use of my camera or anything like that. However, it is a moment in History... My thoughts go out to all the poor people in Chile who suffered an 8.8 earthquake.

PS. I did not heed this warning -- I went to the beach and people were surfing!!! (the water ended up rising only 1 ft in the end).

Um, yeah, kind of obvious.. you can tell it was the end of the day and I didn't have a picture yet...So this is the table that I was sitting at. I liked the lines, but am not super excited about this photo. I guess that is what this project is about though -- trying to see something when you otherwise wouldn't!
