Forty
This may not be very exciting to you, but I liked it because I didn't change the color or anything in this photo. And this lamp is so shiny! This is a lamp in my hotel room. Usually I use it to create good bokeh or a cool reflection, but today, I liked this one just the way it was -- alone on the bedside table.

i like that you have a little love affair with shiny objects. makes for brilliant photos!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great lamp! I love all your photo's so far, especially the close ups.
ReplyDeleteSo retro. I love pics of interesting objects, and this one is way cool.
ReplyDeleteI like the way its tilted to the right. Did you tilt the camera or is the lamp made that way?
ReplyDeleteA little tip when using flash, because as you can see in your shot, the shadows are really strong, to get better pictures you'll have to use a diffuser, can't afford it, there's many ways online to make a diffuser, here's one way How to make a diffuser.
Hey thanks everyone! Lucy - I am like a raccoon! Mhammad - I have a question for you...I did not use a flash, that was only the afternoon light streaming in the window that made the shadows...any tips? I WILL read about the diffuser too.. I just got a new camera and am still learning to use it so can use all the help I can get! (ps. the camera is tilted)
ReplyDeleteI normally close the window half way and use a white sheet to redirect the light to my subject. A white sheet catches the harsh light and bounces back a beautiful soft light.
ReplyDeleteI think that lamp is god-awful, but it's turned out to be a great conversation piece and a fantastic photograph!
