Kudos!
I just wanted to say: THANKS! to M. Hassan, who has a Project 365 blog AND he posts his favorite shot of the day from one of his followers. And on this day he posted mine! Thanks! It makes me feel very proud and makes me want to go out and take more photos! It's nice to get recognition. It makes it all worthwhile.

I took a drive around New Orleans today and I don't know why but this barn near the tracks near the industrial canal just spoke to me. I was a little afraid of someone coming from within that barn to jump me, but I persevered. New Orleans is a great place to take pictures of run down buildings (sad but true).

I am practicing learning my camera, so this is my attempt at manual focus. I also played with the ISO and things to see what differences there were. Again, in my hotel room. I don't get out much. ;) This is my hotel issue pen and paper..(with my 365 project list written on it).

This is not a very exciting one, but I am tired and (obviously) I haven't finished unpacking yet and I am probably not going to tonight! However, here is a glimpse into my hotel living....out of a suitcase...

My job is going into storm (aka Katrina) damaged properties (schools etc) and assessing damage. This is a beautiful old school, built in circa 1910. Now it is moldy, dirty and gross. This sink caught my eye.

It rained. We walked...I saw this spittoon, sitting in the perfect lighting and with a reflection to boot.

This is not a very inspiring photo for number 50, but its a good day
even if it doesn't show! Now I'm just relaxing, watching the Olympics
and having a glass of wine. And may I add, sitting next to two drunks
or two idiots...or two drunk idiots!!

Back at work! Without the cars this would be great...however, I had to post it anyway. As I left work, the sky was purple. Thank goodness the days are getting longer and we don't have to always be in the dark anymore!

Who doesn't love shells? I love them...and rocks! I was lucky to have a nice sunny day without too much snow, although the wind was whipping me around and the beach was freezing!

Bur Bur...That's the sound of the boats in the New Bedford Harbor. I didn't see any whales, but I saw many, many fishermen. And clam boats, lobster boats, crab boats, fishing boats...etc... This boat was falling apart. I think they brought it over from the Azores in the 60s!

In honor of the Olympics in Vancouver, here is a photo of the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Unfortunately, the inside was "closed jusqua March" but the outside is still pretty darn cool. We drove around it a few times and got about 1.4 good photos.

Alas...
I know I haven't been posting, but I have been on the road and I don't
have Internet. I have been taking some great pictures on my travels
with my new camera, so I decided to not use photos from my iPhone.
Instead I will wait and post the last couple of days as well as today
and tomorrow's pictures on Thursday when I arrive back in Internet
land. Sorry I am slacking!!!but hopefully what I have in a couple days
will make up for it!
Happy Mardi Gras everyone!

So...Funny story. I went to a Mardi Gras Parade tonight to get some good pics for my picture of the day. Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, but they have parades from about 3 weeks before to the actual day (and more). However, I didn't get ANY good shots. I really suck at taking pictures in the dark, especially of moving things. So, Mr. Lovely needed a new suitcase, so off to TJ Maxx we go, him shopping, me snapping pictures of everything, and waiting to get kicked out by security (what am I, a spy from Marshalls?). And this is what I got. Its not my favorite shot ever, but its colorful, which is always a plus.

This may not be very exciting to you, but I liked it because I didn't change the color or anything in this photo. And this lamp is so shiny! This is a lamp in my hotel room. Usually I use it to create good bokeh or a cool reflection, but today, I liked this one just the way it was -- alone on the bedside table.

This is Papa P. You will probably see a lot of him in the next few months. I have had him for a while. He travels EVERYWHERE with me...and by that, I mean he has been to NYC, Scotland...etc.... I don't usually take a picture of him everywhere I go (what do you think, he is GNOME? booo) but he is there with me regardless. Oh. and I can't fail to mention that he has 4 more penguins stuffed inside of him. "mama P", "princess P", "teen P' and....my favorite (shh) "baby P". You will eventually meet all of them, but Papa P is the first, since he has such a jaunty red hat and bow tie. This shot is entitled Papa P does Mardi Gras. Rock on Papa.

This is the railroad trestle near the Huey P. Long Bridge in Metairie. They both go over the river and the effect is pretty cool. I took this through the window of a moving car with my new camera. I put the picture on my computer and found out that I have the resolution turned up so high -- the picture is 11 MB. I need to figure out how to change that or I will have to get a new External HD just to hold all these pictures!
I also couldn't resist posting this:

This is the sink in the bathroom of the restaurant we went to for lunch. I love reflections and silver/mirrors.
And, I have great news! I got a new camera. My lovely boyfriend, who must be SOOOO tired of me whipping out my camera in the middle of dinner to take pictures of his food, got me a new Nikon. I still don't know how to work it, but here it is! MY NEW BABY. I am so excited!

I went to dinner at a tapas restaurant tonight. This is a marvelous Portuguese wine and.... a tilted wine glass. I was trying for a weird angle, but am not completely happy with what I got. However, it was still a lot of fun trying!

All day today it rained. This was taken as I walked to my car, in the rain, after work, with a street light as my background. My umbrella is actually red. People were looking at me because I was standing in the rain, trying to hold the umbrella, not drop my purse, and get a semi decent photo.

I did take photos today, but was still very disappointed that I hadn't had time this weekend to post the pictures I took with my camera of the remodel. So...today's post is a compilation of this weekend's remodel and construction photos...painting, heating, nails, hoses and plugs. Fun!
